I know Hollywood  like  I  know  particle  physics--but  wouldn't  producers  insist on multi  year options  with  Kirsten and  Toby?  Two  more  movies,  maybe  three?  I think  probably  both  would resist  that bec.  of  the  other  movies they would  miss bec.  of  the  time invovled  with  the  SPM franchise.  Secondly,  for  the  actors---it's  seen  that,  done  that. They  might  want  something  new.  And  finally,  it  might  be hard  to  get  a  good  script  no matter  who  is  involved writing it.  3 great or  very  good  scripts  with  a group  of  characters is  tough to  get.  Another  2 or  3  that  much harder.  I  wouldn't  think  Toby or  KD  would like  to  play parts  in  a less than  great script with  a series  they have  done so  much  with,  even  for  considerable  money.  But.... this is  alll Hamlet  speculation, and  Hollywood  is  a strange place.  There  could be an  announcement tomorrow indicating  the  exact  opposite blowing  up  my  speculation.

Speculations, always speculations. I guess Sony will keep thing underwrap until the production starts. I might be the few ones who think that Spiderman 3 is already a good conclusion to the franchise, unless there're some amazing scripts out there, I don't really care that much about the new chapter.

SPIDER-MAN 4 in May 2011?

If this news is true, then we can expect some big movement on the Spider-Man franchise at the end of 2008/beginning of 2009.

Laura Zisken, the producer of the Spidey movies at Columbia/Sony has told theatre owners in California and Nevada that a fourth movie in the series is hoped to be released in May 2011.

She also confirms that James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) has yet to turn his script in, the part of the proccess that will be vital in keeping both director Sam Raimi and stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. If the script is below par or is disagerable with them, then that?s it for those three? they no longer have any committments with the franchise.

Director Sam Raimi has yet to commit to the project, and told press earlier this month that he is ?excited to read? the screenplay, and is ?hoping it?s as great as our discussions were about it and hoping it feels right?. No stars are signed on to the project, however Sony has publicly insisted that they want to bring Tobey Maguire back for the fourth film. I still wonder if the script and money will be enough to bring the original team back to the fold. JK Simmons has said that the studio has recently checked in with his agents to say they want him back for a sequel, and he?s ready to return if Raimi is still involved.

Sam Raimi Gives Spider-Man 4 Update

"Right now, I know Columbia Pictures is definitely making a fourth one, and the writer is writing a screenplay, and I'll definitely be involved as a producer, and I'm very excited that they are going to show me the screenplay, I hope, when they're done. I don't want to be presumptuous and I hope [they] consider me as the director for it."

When asked about the possibility of the cast returning for the film, he had this to say.

"Well, that would be the directors choice. Let me see, first, if the project comes my way before I am presumptuous. But I couldn't imagine... if I was involved I would definitely bring the cast back."

There was a small article in one of the London newspapers today that said that Kirsten was close to securing a deal to appear in Spider-Man 4.

Now I should point out that I've not seen anything elsewhere to back this report up and it could easily just be speculation (or even completely made up).

However if it turns out to be correct......You read it here first !  Grin.

Hi!

I found a quite interesting article - http://www.myparkmag.co.uk/articles/celebrity/kirsten-dunsts-spider-ambition-.html

Kirsten Dunst wants to star in 'Spider-Man 4'.

The actress - who plays Peter Parker's love interest Mary-Jane Watson in the superhero series - is prepared to reprise her role if director Sam Raimi and her co-star Tobey Maguire agree to another instalment.

She said: "I feel as thought the third film is the end of a chapter for the 'Spider-Man' franchise but I'm willing to explore a fourth one if Sam and Tobey are on board."

If a fourth movie does get the go-ahead, Kirsten will have no problem wearing a padded bra again like she did in the other films.

The 26-year-old star added: "It's part of the role. MJ is more voluptuous than I am. I had to wear a padded bra but I didn't feel it was sexist. I embraced my MJ boobs!"

'Spider-Man 4' Walk-On Role Auctioned

http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00017931.html

As their next "Spider-Man" movie is eyeing a possible 2011 release, Sony Pictures are offering fans a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take part in "Spider-Man 4". Holding a charitable auction on eBay, the production company open up the bidding game with amazing prizes that include the chance of being an extra in the film.

Beside appearing in the movie, the highest bidder and his or her guest can visit the movie's set, participate in a meet and greet with the cast as well as attend the New York premiere and walk down its red carpet dressed in designer outfits. Benefiting the "Stand Up to Cancer" charity, the auction will be closed on September 5.

Noting that there is a possibility that the movie may not be made, Sony make sure that the winner won't walk out empty handed. Hence, they release the following statement, "If experience cannot be fulfilled, Sony Pictures will provide alternative set visits/premieres based on the provider's availability."

So far, many things concerning "Spider-Man 4" are still marked with question marks. The movie which put James Vanderbilt on the screenwriting role has yet to have any director or actors attached. Director Sam Raimi is still waiting to read the script before making any decision and words on the chance of Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst returning for their roles are scarce.

You've probably all seen this by now but just in case any of you haven't

http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/exclusive-sony-sets-sam-raimi-studio-may-shoot-4-and-5-at-same-time/

I'll add my normal proviso that this is obviously unconfirmed at present, and it's highly unlikely Sony are going to make any official comment about this story.

Whether or not Kirsten will be reprise her role in Spiderman, this article does give me the impression that Sony will probably emphasize another female role a little bit. (Possibly Gwen Stacy?) If this one is true, I'll be glad that they won't recast the Mary Jane role even if Kirsten doesn't return.

Where's the H force when you need him? Grin

Hi!

I just found this interesting article on the net - it lookes also like Kiki will soon sign in for the next Spider-Man film(s)  Smiley -
seen at  http://www.thecelebritycafe.com/features/19741.html :

Nikki Finke over at Deadline Hollywood reports that both Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire have agreed to terms with Sony for two more "Spider-Man" films. Finke goes on to say that Kirsten Dunst is near agreeing with the studio about returning for a fourth and fifth money-grab, but has not signed on at this point.
The villains for the films have not been confirmed, but two that are still out there are Vulture and Electro. According to Finke's sources, however, either Lizard or Man-Wolf will be the next villain.

"Sony is taking its time officially hiring the movie's villain since principal photography doesn't start on Spider-Man 4 until next fall because of the recently postponed May 2011 release," Finke writes. "I am told, however, that 'once you find out who the villian is, you'll know who's playing it.

"Near agreeing with the studio", "close to securing a deal", why do I get the feeling that it sounds so familiar?  ;DOH, someone named John "leaked" the information back in August. (Scroll the thread to find out in case you haven't already, LOL). So if Kirsten ever reprise her role as Mary Jane in the upcoming Spidey sequels, remember you read it here first!  Grin

I'm going to go a bit off topic with this reply (no change there then Grin) but bear with me as there will (eventually) be something vaguely relevant to this thread.

I've seen a video clip of Kirsten at Los Angeles airport last friday. Unfortunately for various reasons (which i can't go into) I can't provide a link to it. This video (and other ones i've seen) is a real eye opener. Kirsten and her friend are basically surrounded by about 20 paparazzi as soon as they arrive at the airport. Cameras are pressed virtually into Kirstens face and the constant flashbulbs going off is nigh on blinding (the video loses focus at one stage due to the bright lights).

Kirsten takes it all in her stride and actually gets a couple of the photographers to help them with their bags!. She's so polite to them ("Thank you", "What a couple of gentlemen" etc) that the rest of the paps virtually end up fighting each other to try and help! (As an aside it might just be me but recently Kirsten seems to be more at ease with the paparazzi than she has been for a few years).

There's some light-hearted banter between Kirsten and the paps as she makes her way to the airport entrance and she even jokes with one of the paparazzi (who says he can't afford a 4x4 car) that she hopes he'll make a lot of money from these pics!.

Anyway among the usual questions that the paps shout out as they are taking their pics one of them asks Kirsten about Spider-Man 4 (the story had just broke that evening), Kirsten gave a quick shrug and with a slight grin on her face said "I don't know".

Which proves nothing either way but gives me an excuse to post the story!.

Thanks for the kind words gkfi and kforab. I try to only post news etc that i think has at least a ring of truth to it. I may not possess the harmony force but my bullshitometer is normally pretty reliable when it comes to Kiki related stories  Grin.
