Well, I tend to believe Kelly.  It's  true that sometimes, under extreme stress, guys lie about dating a girl (as in, they are a two timer).   But Kelly is a surfer and I tend to believe him.  Secondly, he is somewhat older than Kirsten, and so far, I don't think she has dated older guys.  Thirdly, she can't be into "abs of steel" kind of guys.  Way too extreme for her.  However, it's possible that he made up the thing and called the gossip site in order to have an excuse  to talk  to Kirsten. This is a reasonable approach.  I don't think he did so  bec. it sounds like a female left the message ("They were ... giggling. They were having a fun time, and there was a definite chemistry.  It looked like they were getting to know each other.  She was into him.") That's all female stuff.  A guy would leave a much different kind of message.  So they almost certainly did not date.  Why was Kelly chosen as part of the gossip fake?  A very curious thing.

When i first read this story (and just before i read that Kelly Slater had denied it) i was going to post a message showing the (probable) difference between what had really happened and how the magazine actually reported it. It went like this

Reality : Kirsten was seen at this place with a group of say about 6 people, both male and (maybe) mainly female. The only 'famous' person in the group was Kirsten, but one of the guys looked a bit like that surfer dude. During the evening Kirsten (very slightly) leant forward so she could hear something the guy said, and later laughed at something else he said.

Reported : Kirsten out for a hot date with Kelly Slater and she was hanging on his every word all evening !.

Morale of the story : If there's no pics don't believe it. Which is why i never believed this story but why i do believe in the Loch Ness Monster and Santa Clause !
